The first few minutes with a new kind of conversation can feel a little unfamiliar. That is completely normal. This guide walks you through what happens, what to try, and what to do if something does not feel quite right.

Before you start

You will need an account. When you create one, we ask for your date of birth, because Synchroverse is for people aged 18 and over.

Then find a quiet spot and check three small things:

  • A working microphone. Built-in or plugged in, either is fine.
  • An up-to-date browser. Sessions run in your browser, so there is nothing extra to install.
  • Microphone permission. When your browser asks whether the page can use your microphone, say yes.

That is it. No setup wizard, no script to learn.

The first moments

When your live session opens, you will see a short notice on the startup screen: "Our avatars are AI companions, not humans." It is there so the most important fact is clear from the very first second. You will see it on screen again after every three hours of continuous conversation, but it is never spoken.

Then Aria is there with you. Before you speak, take a quick look at your microphone and make sure it is not muted in the session.

Say hello

There is no perfect opening line. Begin with something small and specific. Then let the next question come from whatever catches your attention.

If you would like a starting point, try one of these:

  • Tell her about your day, or something you are looking forward to.
  • Talk through an idea you have not quite put into words.
  • Explore a new topic and ask for another way to look at it.
  • Imagine a character for a story, a game or a creative project.

You do not need to turn your curiosity into a polished prompt before you begin. Just talk.

Finding your rhythm

Speak the way you normally would. Aria is built for real-time voice with natural interruption, which means you do not have to wait politely for her to finish. If she heads in a direction you did not mean, jump in. If she misheard you, just say it again in your own words.

A few small habits help a lot:

  • Mute when you are not talking. That way, background noise is not picked up as part of the conversation.
  • Tune your microphone sensitivity. In a live session, click the Settings icon in the top toolbar, open Audio Settings, and adjust the Microphone Sensitivity slider while you watch the voice activity indicator.
  • Give it a minute. Like any new conversation partner, it takes a few exchanges to settle into a natural back-and-forth.

Optional: show her something

If you would like Aria to see what you are looking at, you can share your camera, or a screen, window or browser tab. Sharing starts only when you turn it on, and you can stop it at any time.

Share only what you intend to show. A screen can hold private details about you or other people, so pick the single tab or window you want to talk about.

What she remembers

Memory is off by default. In your first conversation, Aria is not keeping a running list of facts about you to bring up next time.

If you later want her to remember your name, your preferences and where you left off, you can choose to turn memory on. It is entirely your call, and our post on memory explains what it keeps and how to clear it.

If something feels off

Most first-session hiccups come down to the microphone. If Aria does not seem to hear you:

  • Check that your microphone is unmuted in the session.
  • Check that your browser has permission to use the microphone.
  • Check your computer's sound settings, and make sure the right microphone is selected.
  • Make sure no other app is holding on to your microphone.

If replies feel a little slow, location may be part of it. Our servers are currently in the United States, so if you are connecting from outside the US, you may notice slightly longer response times. We are working on adding servers in Europe and Asia.

Still stuck? Our Support page has help for common questions, and you can always email support@synchroverse.ai. Tell us what happened and what you expected, and include screenshots if you can.

One last thing

Aria is good company, and she can also be wrong. Treat what she says as a starting point for your own thinking, and check anything important with a reliable source.

Then enjoy it. The first conversation is just the first one.
